7 days safari, 7 days aboard a dive vessel, approx. $6,315 all-inclusive (air, diving, meals, lodging, safari).
Join us on our dive safari extravaganza in Kenya and Tanzania with the snowcapped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro as the back drop. The Kisawani is the only live-aboard in central east Africa--come and dive while it's still undiscovered. The Finstad group was one of the first to do group diving trips to the Pemba islands. Even though other dive shops have followed suit, the Finstad experience lends them to going to the best sites and having the best guides available.
One of the best points of this trip is that you will see no other divers, no other boats. Due to the remoteness of this area the corals are huge and untouched; and the marine life is very dense. This is one of the only areas in the world that has not been affected by coral bleaching.
We will see juvenile scorpion fish and the largest nudibranch in the world (2-ft 10 lb Spanish dancer). One of the most special things about the Africa diving is the juvenile Oriental Sweetlips, which is one of the most spectacular fish in the tropical world. The density of scorpion fish is unparalleled.
In March, you are almost guaranteed of glassy calm water every day. The reflection off of the glassy water creates some of the best sunsets you've ever seen. After the mind-blowing diving experience, we will go to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater and Lake Manyara game preserves. We will be staying at the 5 star Serena Lodges where all meals and safaris will be included.
You will have the rare opportunity to see tree climbing lions, found nowhere else in he world. We will see hippos, lions, rhinos, elephants, giraffes, leopards, zebras, and hyenas. The safari guides will be great interpretive ecologists. A hot-air balloon ride is optional-- it's a great way to see wildlife "off-road".
We will enjoy two nights at the luxury Serengeti Serena followed by the enchanting Ngorongoron Serena and the Lake Manyra Serena (this is where we saw tree climbing lions and shook hands with a giraffe and a rhino chasing a hyena). The lodge at ngoro is one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen. It sits on the edge of the crater and the dining room has 30 x 30 ft glass window that looks directly down into the crater. We watched 2 lions rip a Masai warrior to shreds one morning before the safari.........just kidding.
